  • 40 hours per week, Day Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Carpenter will perform journey-level carpentry work, maintenance, repair, and construction of Harborview facilities
  • Be a part of a team dedicated to supporting UW Medicine where Patients Are First
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repair or alter buildings, sheds, scaffolds, partitions, concrete forms and other structures from plans, sketches or instructions; may construct new facilities from blueprints and specifications
  • Repair floors, walls, ceilings, screens, windows, sashes, doors, furniture, stairs, cupboards and roofs
  • Operate power equipment such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planers, boring and mortising machines; clean, sharpen and maintain equipment noted above as well as hand tools
  • Assist in estimates of cost and provide feedback to improve estimating and costing processes
  • Drive Engineering service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies
  • Maintain inventory of replacement parts and tools
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a carpenter; or full journey status as a carpenter in a union; or four years' applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required.
  • Examination Requirements:
The examination (including written, E & T and oral components) will consist of a scored evaluation of the applicant's training and experience as a carpenter or carpenter's helper; knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of carpentry trades and safety precautions; ability to work from blueprints, plans and sketches; ability to estimate materials and time needed to complete jobs; and ability to use and maintain hand and power tools.ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER
