- Leads and directs the day to day management of assigned projects and provides support to the development and completion of the Tohono O'odham Nation's special projects.
- Provides meeting documentation and assists with planning and facilitation of meetings.
- Works closely with the contract evaluator to conduct process and outcome evaluation of the project.
- Develops, researches, coordinates, and implements strategies relating to the project and other areas as assigned.
- Works with consultants to conduct needs assessment, training and strategic planning activities.
- Represents the project with other tribal and non-tribal partners, as well as funding agents.
- Manages project budget with the assistance of the department managers and/or director and tribal accounting department staff.
- Oversees activity tracking, data collection and reporting; prepares and submits reported required to improve the projects goals and objectives and ensure timelines are met.
- Conducts evaluation and assessment of project components and staff, according to established policies, procedures and regulations.
- Promotes project stability and growth through completing sustainability activities, such as grant writing; Identifies and secures additional funding sources to continue and expand program services, including federal grants.
- Increases management's effectiveness by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, coaching, counseling and disciplining managers; communicating values, strategies, and objectives; assigning accountabilities; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; developing a climate for offering information and opinions; integrating functional objectives; providing and participating in educational opportunities.
- Maintains professional knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned and contributes to a team effort.
- Knowledge of the Tohono O'odham culture, customs, and traditions.
- Knowledge of the economic, educational, health and social problems of Native Americans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of public health concepts, to include coalitions and networks.
- Knowledge of project management practices and procedures, scheduling and budgeting.
- Knowledge of tribal government systems, including criminal justice and behavioral health.
- Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
- Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs.
- Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
- Skill in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing operational and financial reports.
- Skill in ensuring compliance with safety, health and environmental protection rules and regulations.
- Sill in designing, developing, implementing and overseeing multiple projects.
- Skill in providing superior customer service to external and internal customers.

- Ability to travel within the interior/exterior boundaries of the Tohono O'odham Nation.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Project Management, or closely related field and two years' work experience in project management in a health or educational field, or an equivalent combination of training, education, and work experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Two years of supervisory experience.
- Upon recommendation for hire, a criminal background check is required to determine suitability for hire, including a 39-month Motor Vehicle Record.
- May require possessing and maintaining a valid driver's license, (no DUIs or major traffic citations within the last three years).
- If required, must meet the Tohono O'odham Nation tribal employer's insurance requirements to receive a driver's permit to operate program vehicles.
- Based on the department's needs, incumbents may be required to demonstrate fluency in both the Tohono O'odham Language and English as a condition of employment.
