
Automation Engineering Technician -2nd Shift

- Performs the highest level of complex troubleshooting for automated manufacturing equipment including software, electrical, pneumatic, camera, and/or hydraulic systems.
- Maintains, accurately follows, and records protocols/procedures and maintenance work logs.
- Can apply fundamental skills to troubleshoot in areas that they are not necessarily subject matter expert in.
- Provides a level of support to the onsite operators and mechanics outside of normal business hours.
- Provides work direction and training for less experienced mechanics and technicians.
- Partners with engineering to develop and execute process validations.
- Develops standards, tools, and methods and provides or writes documentation to a level required by the department.
- Builds and repairs equipment, as applicable.
- Use Solid Edge/ Solid Works or other equivalent 3D modeling software to design, create drawings, and have parts manufactured.
- Identifies a wide range of trends or problems and helps to solve or direct their solution and/or interprets and recommends actions.
- May be required to provide process data from machines to other engineering groups
- Serves as a lead, coach, and mentor to less experienced technicians and equipment operators.
- Assist in new automation activities including: Design reviews, PFMEAs, FAT, and SAT.
- May be required to travel to machine supplier locations for periods of time.
- Two-year technical degree or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Minimum 10 years experience in a technical role, or equivalent of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Experience in medical device industry preferred.
- Requires skills and experience in design and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and/or software systems.
- Experience in the fabrication of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and assemblies preferred.
- Experience in high speed automation.
- Experience in RF welding applications.
- Experience in Cam automation.
- Understand and able to read/write PLC ladder logic. (Allen Bradley and/or Siemens preferred)
- Understand and able to troubleshoot vision systems. (Cognex preferred)
- Ability to successfully carry out a wide range of projects and resolve the most complex problems.
- Direct experience with pneumatic, electrical, and control software systems involving complex troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to specify and procure materials and components needed for projects, test equipment, and production equipment.
- Skills to interface with manufacturers, vendors, and contractors in the development of equipment and control systems.
- Able to provide input toward the design of mechanical/electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to read, understand, and apply complex mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Ability to work independently and multitask.
- Demonstrated ability to carry out tasks as directed and meet scheduled timelines.
- Prefer knowledge in machining, welding, fastener and assembly technologies.
