OverviewSchedule: Day ShiftPurpose Statement/Position Summary: The Training Specialist, Ambulatory performs tasks associated with technical and functional onboarding and ongoing education for ambulatory staff, including customer service/patient communication and de-escalation training. The Training Specialist will be leading several trainings in the ambulatory environment. They will act as a knowledgeable resource and have expertise of the systems and workflows used in the ambulatory clinics. Examples of systems include referral management, scheduling, registration, eligibility verification, authorizations, payor websites and billing, etc. Responsible for designing, developing and maintaining curriculums/materials/workflows for new and existing staff, and conducting audits for quality control and assurance purposes. The Training Specialist will train in a variety of settings, including but not limited to classroom, online, and job aid educational methods. When not leading/performing training activities, will serve as a Patient Service Representative I or II. As a part of the team, provide smooth outpatient flow resulting in optimum patient satisfaction and clinic operation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to coordinate appointments and assist patients and families as needed. Participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, from customer service, message distribution, appointment scheduling, encounter registration, referrals management, financial clearance and verification. Coordinates ancillary services, consultations, and referrals ordered for patients. Answers and screens incoming calls, takes and relays messages to clinicians/clinic teams. Must be highly flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, have a proactive approach, work efficiently and effectively under
pressure in a team environment.Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:
Required:
- 3 years of experience in healthcare or customer service industry.
- Experience working with Cerner, STAR or other healthcare based Electronic Medical Record systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation skills, and telephone manner. Must be highly flexible, adaptable, enthusiastic, have a proactive approach, work efficiently and effectively under pressure in a team
environment.
Preferred:
- Bilingual English / Spanish.
- Experience and expertise in areas of scheduling, financial clearance (knowledge of major insurance plans and types of coverage provided, including government health programs), pre-registration or relevant
healthcare training experience preferred. Knowledge or experience working in healthcare settings and processes.
- Experience in training or instructional design.
- Must be comfortable with computers and medical terminology.If needed, this position will need to travel to the various CHLA clinics (including offsite) to provide appropriate training and coverage as a PSR I/PSR II.
Hours may vary depending on assignments/training/clinic needs.Education/Licensure/Certification: Required: Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, organizational development, health administration, or related field; or High School Diploma/GED plus 4 additional years of related work experience.
Pay Scale Information$68,640.00-$110,573.00CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate's starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
