The After School Enrichment Teacher (ASET) implements enrichment programs and activities for students enrolled in after school programs. Conducts classes, workshops, demonstrations and provides instruction to students on topics and skills such as cooking, dancing, photography, robotics and physical fitness for self-improvement and/or fun.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • CERTIFICATION:
  • Minimum of SRT4-Certification in Early Childhood Education or related field (P-5); OR
  • EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience teaching or instructing K-12 aged children.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILIITIES:
  • Must possess strong teaching skills.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Talent for making the subject engaging.
  • Ability to explain and instruct students at a basic level.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • Ability to create lesson plans and bring current practices to the classroom setting.
  • Knowledge of school safety and security procedures.
  • Knowledge of after school programs and activities.
  • National Standards for Quality School-Age Care.
  • Must display expertise in enrichment area through training, licensure and/or certification.
  • Proven experience in the enrichment subject must be provided.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person learning environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Plans and conducts activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question and investigate.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups, in an in-person environment, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions and demonstrations.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects; communicates objectives to students.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage.
  • Organizes and supervises enrichment lessons, projects and activities that align with the purpose of the after school program.
  • Prepares materials and classroom setting for enrichment activities or projects.
  • Selects, orders and issues resources and materials for activities and/or projects.
  • When in an in-person classroom environment, responsible for daily classroom clean up and wiping down surfaces to uphold sanitation standards as required for safe school environment.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and responding to emails and phone calls from parents, school administrators, and staff in a timely manner.
  • Attends in-person faculty meetings, teacher training workshops and educational conferences to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Assists administrators and other staff members in the orderly, expedient and safe transition of students from one location to another.
  • Complies with all requirements for mandatory reporting of child abuse, illegal harassment, breaches of ethics, or any criminal activity of which the employee becomes aware.
  • Effectively communicates with students, parents and other stakeholders via verbal and written communication.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict.
Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress.
