- Develop and lead multiple moderate to complex integration engineering solutions that install IFEC in seats, monuments, and other areas of the cabin, as well as solutions for installing IFEC across other areas of the aircraft including external fuselage and empennage modifications.
- Create and manage the statement of work (SOW) needed to integrate IFEC on an aircraft.
- Conduct moderate to complex technical evaluations and analyses to ensure the feasibility and efficiency of engineering solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal and external teams. Lead Technical Kickoff by establishing the engineering plan that delivers the integrated system on the aircraft.
- Troubleshoot complex engineering problems and provide effective solutions during design, testing, and implementation phases.
- Review moderate to complex integration engineering designs, drawings, and specifications to assure compliance with design requirements.
- Identify, manage, and solve engineering risks throughout the development activities. Build and manage mitigation strategies to address the risks.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and influence quality control processes to verify the integrity and performance of engineering complex designs and deliverables.
- Develop detailed project schedules, including key milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
- Coordinate with department teams to establish task durations, dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Facilitate regular design review meetings to evaluate progress, risks, and adherence to project schedules.
- Review technical aspects of vendor proposals and select appropriate suppliers based on engineering requirements.
- Manage and develop relationships with external partners to ensure that engineering deliverables meet quality and schedule expectations.
- Integrate project schedules with master Program Management schedule and assure alignment across all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Program teams to assure alignment on program priorities. Build plans to shift resources in the event schedules are adjusted based on customer demands.
- Prepare communications that define the status project work scope, which includes Initial Technical Coordination Meeting (ITCM), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR) communications shared with program stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Account Management and Sales Enablement to develop commercial proposals, including definition of engineering services by the design teams. Identify and explain all assumptions and caveats that are part of commercial proposals and assure alignment with other external stakeholders. Manage project costs and reconcile between quote and actual expenditures.
- Act as the liaison between design engineers and internal/external stakeholders.
- Mentor, train, and assist colleagues and junior members of the team.
- Assist with departmental and new employee training.
- Review the work of junior colleagues.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field) or 12+ years of engineering/project engineering experience in lieu of degree
- 8+ years' experience in engineering or project engineering (electrical, mechanical, and/or systems engineering preferred).
- Experience in engineering or project engineering in commercial aviation industry, preferred.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing multiple projects.
- Proven confident leader who demonstrates strong technical competencies of engineering principles, project management methodologies, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and creating multiple engineering designs and building integration plans to meet design requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in learning, adapting, and functioning across multiple different engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to act in a professional manner. Demonstrated experience interacting with multiple levels in an organization, as well as suppliers and customers.
- Self-motivated, well organized, and detailed oriented.
- Excellent time management skills combined with a proven ability to multiplex across different tasks/programs while tracking and maintaining issues.
- Proven ability to identify and solve risks and mitigations to avoid potential problems before they occur.
- Creative problem-solving skills and proven experience resolving conflicts and filter conflicting agendas to determine path forward.
- Advanced experience demonstrating independent judgment to ensure projects are completed accurately and on-time, and ensures work of cross-functional project team is completed in a timely manner.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite as well as project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Jira, SAFe (Agile), Jama, etc.).
- Proven knowledge of AS9100 standards, as well as all industry and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience guiding and mentoring colleagues and junior staff.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to both domestic and international locations.
- Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
