MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:High School Diploma or GED Certificate.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.5-7 years of experience in Computer Systems.5-7 years of experience in Utility Accounting.5-7 years Supervisory experience required.Proficient in Microsoft Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle record review).JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:Sets standards for the conduct of accounting work and the performances of accounting staff. Ensure compliance with established standards.Manages, supervises and schedules employees by establishing performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct subordinates, including selection, training, performance appraisal and work allocation.Confirms data and advises users of the functional capabilities of various databases.Directs the continuing review of present systems and methods and the formulation of new and revised systems, examining techniques in the use and determining appropriate changes to effect improvements, reduce costs and enhance efficiency.Establishes and maintains work papers, schedules, and reports and provides documentation and reports to independent auditing firms to assist in the audit programDevelops, implements, and monitors goals and planning activities.Maintains assigned work area in a neat, clean and safe mannerEnters and retrieves data in mainframes and personal computers with proficiency and accuracy.Documents and follows-up on billing inquiries, complaints, and maintains customer filesPrepares special and/or statistical reports and analyzes or review unusual items.Prepare customer statements, bills and invoices.Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal vouchers and accounting classifications assigned to various records.Oversee the coding and input of data into an established computerized system.Provides for the safety of subordinate employeesOversee and participates in employment activities to ensure that properly qualified employees are recruited and hired.Ensures the security and safety of company buildings and properties, employees, equipment and records as well as physical aspects of the property.Formulates and develop plans, procedures and programs to meet specific training needs and problems.Supervises the design of forms and reports for maximum clarity.Performs other related duties as assigned or required.Navajo PreferenceNavajo Veteran PreferenceThis institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
