Position Description:Trinity Valley School seeks a full-time computer science teacher to join the Upper School faculty
beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.Computer Science at Trinity Valley School:The Upper School at Trinity Valley School seeks applicants who bring passion for teaching computer
science; eagerness to build meaningful, caring relationships with adolescents; and enthusiasm for
professional learning and growth.TVS welcomes candidates who are capable and comfortable teaching computer science courses across
the Upper School curriculum. The position will include teaching five sections across all levels of
computer science, including courses in physical computing, AP Computer Science A and others,
depending on the expertise and experience of the hired candidate within the context of student need.
Experience and qualification in a range of high school computer science courses is desirable. Current
course offerings include Digital Fabrication, Graphics Programming, and Mechatronics. Additionally, we
desire candidates eager to sponsor and support our successful interscholastic competitive coding
program. Computer Science at Trinity Valley emphasizes exploration of a variety of programming
modalities and hardware and software tools, a hands-on, project-based approach, and development of
strong problem-solving skills. The applicant should be comfortable working with students across the
range of experience levels, informed of trends and best practice in the field, and equipped with a spirit
of curiosity, flexibility, and possibility.TVS appreciates that teaching excellence comes in many forms. Above all, the school seeks candidates
who love working with young people and place students at the heart of their instructional practice.
TVS welcomes candidates who are both comfortable serving as advisors to groups of 10-12 Upper School
students and willing to engage in campus life through coaching, volunteering with Trojan Outdoor
Experience (TOE), leading students on Trojans Abroad Programs, and/or directing co-curricular clubs and
programs. Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to work collegially with other members of
the faculty.Knowledge, Experience, and Skill Requirements:The ideal candidate will:● Hold a master's degree in computer science or related field (master's preferred; not required).
● Have teaching experience in computer science, ideally in independent schools.
● Have the flexibility to teach across the computer science curriculum (9-12)
● Have experience and comfort using and maintaining hardware including 3-D printers,
laser cutters, and robotics/mechatronics components, and more importantly an
enthusiasm for developing student/faculty facility and empowerment with the same.
● Have experience and interest in designing innovative approaches to teaching and learning in
the computer science classroom, as well as an openness and excitement for cross-divisional
and cross-departmental collaboration opportunities.
● Be eager to support extension activities beyond the classroom such as independent study
projects and scholastic competitions.
● Fully support the four main objectives of the TVS Mission Statement.
