- Two years radiology ultrasound specific college coursework
- Associates Degree or Diploma Preferred
- RDMS Certification Required, one additional modality within two years of hire.
Responsibilities:Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment in accordance with infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocols.Ensure patient safety during sonographic examinations.Review patient medical history and relevant clinical information.Confirm sonography examination orders are complete and meet medical necessity standards.Evaluate contraindications, insufficient preparation, or patient intolerance to procedures.Communicate with patients in a manner appropriate to their level of understanding.Use proper positioning tools, equipment adjustments, and ergonomic techniques to ensure patient comfort and prevent injury.Conduct clinical assessments and perform diagnostic sonography exams per provider orders and facility protocols.Apply ethical judgment and critical thinking to safely perform procedures.Use independent judgment to capture accurate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions.Refer diagnostic, treatment, or prognosis questions to appropriate healthcare professionals unless authorized by facility policy.Acquire additional imaging when necessary to support optimal diagnostic outcomes.Identify and document limitations of the sonography examination.Review images, synthesize results, and prepare preliminary findings.Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and facility policies.Adhere to professional and ethical standards.Provide patient services consistent with the sonographer’s Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards.Assist with daily facility operations as needed.Conduct Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement measures.
