- Other responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team of environmental technicians and project managers (must supervise at least 2 full time employees), overseeing environmental services projects and report reviews, preparing proposals for environmental services, managing departmental P&L, and assisting other senior staff in marketing our services by maintaining and developing client interactions
- The primary duty of this position is supervision of employees and daily management of the department
- This position may involve report preparation and project management duties based on the needs of the department
- Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
- Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
- Market our services. Maintain and further develop the client database.
- Oversee project budgets and review change orders and invoices. Assist with collections efforts.
- Training and oversight of subordinate staff members.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Oversee environmental projects. Assist junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff.
- Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders.
- Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports from junior staff.
- Perform deliverable reviews in accordance with ECS Principal review policy.
- Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.
- Assist senior staff with staffing decisions.
- Interact with Sr. Project Managers to ensure that project set up and implementation procedures are being completed.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state and local wetlands regulations and guidelines and their implications on findings and conclusions in studies.
- Supervise subordinate staff regarding work assignments to ensure properly trained and experienced personnel are assigned. Perform Principal oversight and review of projects in accordance with ECS Principal Policy. Ensure that deliverables are completed, and projects are closed out in accordance with ECS QA/QC policies and guidelines. Assist with client interaction/discussion regarding findings and conclusions of reports.
- Communicate with junior staff to direct field work. Perform site visits as required on the project. May involve several projects being performed simultaneously.
- Initial management and supervision, QA/QC of fieldwork activities. Providing Senior field expertise when needed.
- Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Biology, Ecology, Botany, Environmental Engineering, or other Engineering degree applicable to Environmental Consulting, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
- 10+ years of natural resources/wetlands delineation/endangered species experience
- Licensed as at least one of the following: PE, PG, REM, CIH, CHMM, PWS, CSP, LSS, CIE, REPA, or CEM
- Relationships held with regulatory agencies is highly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications. Excellent Client Manager.
- Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods
- Review and provide feedback of field and laboratory testing by others. Perform training and/or corrective action as necessary.
- Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients
- Demonstrate technical competence, leadership, safety, and professionalism.
