Our Shipping Supervisor directly supervises all employees assigned to the department on various shifts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and direting work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of professional behavior, attitude and performance.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Education Requirements - High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience Requirements- Five years of manufacturing experience.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and understand English. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Mathematical skills – Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Reasoning skills – Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Able to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer skills – Familiar with Microsoft Office products and software that produce shipping dockets, bills of lading and management of inventory.
  • Basic understanding of Department of Transportation regulations and basic shipping paperwork.

The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee experiences while performing the functions of this job: The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; wet and/or humid conditions; high or low precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. Teaching skills in order to function effectively as a teacher/mentor for the personnel in the department. Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understand and demonstrate positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.
