Job OverviewThe Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for supporting and owning much of the tasks related to federal, state, and local planning initiatives and audits. You will play a key role in researching and analyzing tax items. Further, in this role, you will also assist with federal, state, and local compliance applying both your experience and tax technical skills.Job Responsibilities
Responsible for Sales and Use Tax Compliance; including monthly accounts payable invoice review, sales and use return filing/payment scheduling and understanding manufacturing exemptions.
Assist with and take ownership for the reporting of current credits and incentives programs and the research of new opportunities.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant tax legislation, at the federal, state and local levels. Preemptively consider impact of new tax legislation on the business.
Complete tax research requested by manager or management team, as needed.
Responsible for Tax Basis Fixed Asset Maintenance
Support and take ownership of components of the State Income Tax Process; including calculating apportionment and understanding other compliance related knowledge.
Responsible for company's Payroll Tax Process; Research various payroll tax issues, Form 941 payroll tax compliance and Form 940 unemployment tax compliance
Responsible for Form 1099 Process, including annual IRS filing, mailing forms and completing vendor review.
Responsible for various Excise and Use Tax Returns - Form 2290, Form 720, etc.
Responsible for filing Form 5500 Annual Return/Report of Employee Benefit Plan
Responsible for US Census Reporting
Responsible for Annual Business Registration Filings for all company locations.
Support any tax related audits.
Support Tax Accounting Manager with other tasks as needed.
Recommend improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the tax accounting system and procedures.
Effectively communicate with management and external departments.
Assist with and take ownership of additional federal and state tax projects as needed
Assists with and take ownership of tax planning and compliance-related projects

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of tax experience
Problem solving skills
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong communication, presentation, and team skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, able to work well independently
Must be legally authorized to work for a company in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future
Preferred Education and Experience
Master's degree in Business or Accounting
SAP experience
Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred
Working Conditions
Occasional exposure to industrial operations including: temperature extremes from approximately 35ºF to 100ºF; noise levels in excess of 85 dB; moisture and moving machinery.
Work is performed in an office setting.
