These positions would be best suited for those with a background knowledge in cartilage biology or pathobiology, animal models of OA, and/or histological scoring of OA tissues. A strong understanding of molecular biology and mammalian cell culture experience is required. A proven track record in scientific communication and publication is also required. Applicants must be able to accommodate a March 1, 2024 start date. Earlier start date may be negotiable.
The successful candidates will be expected to, on an accelerated timeline, organize and analyze scientific data, and interpret and present data to the collaborative group. Clear, objective communication and collegial teamwork with our collaborating institutions is expected. In addition, these individuals will work directly with Dr. April Craft for the design and execution of related experiments, and, like all lab members, work with the lab manager to ensure completion of infrastructure-related tasks (e.g., preparation of reagents, maintenance of laboratory equipment and suppliesThis Research Technologist will be responsible for
  • Performing routine and highly specialized or unique laboratory experiments for specific research projects, using sophisticated and intricate research equipment and techniques. Performing and devises specialized experiments and research procedures, troubleshooting problems with own and other researchers' results.
  • Providing input to the overall research design to suggest techniques, maximize samples or refine data by the use of specialized techniques.
  • Evaluating research data and initiates alternative approaches to improve quality of the results.
  • Calculating, graphing and compiling data obtained, maintaining records and logs of work performed; performing statistical analyses.
  • Undertaking quality assurance of research techniques.
  • Calibrating, troubleshoots and performs repair of maintenance equipment.
  • Evaluating and recommending new equipment and supplies needed for specialized procedures.
  • Assisting other lab personnel with the use of specialized equipment and techniques within the lab.
  • Training and provides guidance to technicians, residents and researchers in specialized procedures, use of equipment and theoretical bases of unique tests.
  • Monitoring the sterilization of glassware, media and reagent making and other laboratory processes.
  • Preparing articles and papers on specialized techniques.
  • Staying abreast in safety procedures, storage and disposal of bio hazardous, infectious, corrosive, radioactive and toxic substance, regulations in the lab to adhere to new Hospital and federal mandates.
To qualify you must haveā€¦
  • Bachelor's Degree required with four (4) years relevant experience
  • Master's Degree required with two (2) years of relevant experience
  • PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences or similar field preferred
