Job Title: Technical WriterJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly detail-oriented Technical Writer who can thrive under pressure and consistently meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and be adept at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently. This role involves organizing material and completing writing assignments according to established standards of order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. The candidate will research products through interaction with subject matter experts, studying product specifications, and using prototype hardware and engineering drawings. Collaboration with technical experts is essential to establish technical specifications and determine end item development. The writer will integrate relevant information into well-written physical descriptions, controls, indicators, and removal and replacement procedures with supporting graphics.Responsibilities
  • Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Research products by interacting with subject matter experts and studying product specifications.
  • Use prototype hardware and engineering drawings to gather information.
  • Collaborate with technical experts to establish technical specifications and determine end item development.
  • Integrate relevant information into well-written physical descriptions, controls, indicators, and removal and replacement procedures.
  • Select drawings, sketches, diagrams, charts, and photographs to illustrate material.
  • Utilize essential authoring tools such as PTC’s Arbortext and Creo (Windchill), Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Write for re-use using XML authoring system in an S1000D environment.
  • Edit, standardize, and revise material prepared by other writers.
  • Maintain the library of information as products evolve.
  • Create new procedures, outline structures, and manual updates.
  • Maintain configuration control of all documents.
  • Work with multiple SharePoint sites.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in XML and technical writing.
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to use Arbortext and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of XML authoring system in an S1000D environment.
  • B.S. / B.A. degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience in technical writing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related experience with XML, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • 2+ years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals and related fields.
  • XML/S1000D authoring tool experience in a government-related field.
Work EnvironmentThis position is based in an office setting, working cross-functionally with other areas. The role offers a hybrid work setup, providing flexibility in work arrangements.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Burnsville, Minnesota.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
