- Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Research products by interacting with subject matter experts and studying product specifications.
- Use prototype hardware and engineering drawings to gather information.
- Collaborate with technical experts to establish technical specifications and determine end item development.
- Integrate relevant information into well-written physical descriptions, controls, indicators, and removal and replacement procedures.
- Select drawings, sketches, diagrams, charts, and photographs to illustrate material.
- Utilize essential authoring tools such as PTC’s Arbortext and Creo (Windchill), Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Write for re-use using XML authoring system in an S1000D environment.
- Edit, standardize, and revise material prepared by other writers.
- Maintain the library of information as products evolve.
- Create new procedures, outline structures, and manual updates.
- Maintain configuration control of all documents.
- Work with multiple SharePoint sites.
- Proficiency in XML and technical writing.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to use Arbortext and Illustrator.
- Knowledge of XML authoring system in an S1000D environment.
- B.S. / B.A. degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, or a related academic field.
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in technical writing.
- 5+ years of related experience with XML, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products.
- 2+ years of technical writing experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals and related fields.
- XML/S1000D authoring tool experience in a government-related field.
