DescriptionPOSITION: Vice President - HUD Green Building ServicesLOCATION: Flexible/Remote/HybridPOSITION SUMMARYThe Vice President within our HUD Green Building Services division will be responsible for managing Green Building Certification projects, mastering industry requirements, leading and growing a team of field verifiers, performing complex assessments, supporting internal sales teams, developing client relationships, and reviewing reports.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs and manages Green Building Certification projects
  • Leads and mentors team members within the division, creating a positive and productive work environment
  • Performs energy analysis and provides reports about efficiency solutions including energy analytics, implementing innovative systems, green certifications, and sustainable policies/practices
  • Collects and analyzes field data related to energy usage and compares existing energy consumption levels to normative data
  • Analyzes energy bills including utility rates/tariffs to gather historical energy usage data
  • Prepares and reviews audit reports containing energy analysis results or recommendations for energy cost savings
  • Evaluates building envelopes, mechanical systems, electrical systems, or process systems to determine the energy consumption of each system
  • Conducts basic interviews and research covering property maintenance history
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the operation, maintenance, and energy efficiency of building or process systems
  • Analyzes technical feasibility of energy saving measures using knowledge of engineering, energy production, energy use, construction, maintenance, system operation, and process systems
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously
  • Completes technical reviews
  • Responsible for Profit & Loss for the division; manages the division's budget, expenses, and profit targets
  • Responsible for hiring, training, mentoring, and motivating staff
  • Ensures all projects meet the clients' goals and scope expectations
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of relevant previous experience in the energy field
  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) and Green Globes programs
  • Experience (3+ years) performing energy audits for commercial/industrial properties and multi-family complexes
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in assessing various property types (including but not limited to commercial buildings, manufacturing/industrial properties, office buildings from one story to high-rise, strip malls, shopping centers, and multi-family housing properties)
  • Business-savvy, strategic thinker with proven ability to lead teams to meet and exceed goals
  • Extremely organized and detail-oriented with great multi-tasking skills
  • Personable and able to communicate with people at all levels
  • Willingness to travel if necessary
  • Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and able to work productively and independently on multiple projects at a time under strict deadlines with guidance from senior staff
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience with Property Condition Assessments, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or HUD guidelines and Property Needs Assessments a plus
  • Experience and interest in developing new business a plus
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related field
LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS
  • NGBS Verifier
  • Green Globes
  • Professional energy certification by accredited rating agency (CEM, BPI-MFBA, etc.)
  • LEED Accredited Professional or LEED Green Associate preferred
  • NABCEP certification a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe work environment will be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, type, handle office and/or field equipment, speak, and hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel, and crouch. The employee may be required to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
