OverviewABOUT THE POSITIONStructural Engineer – Building Design | Watertown, MAIn this position, you would serve an important role in planning, analysis, design, detailing of a diverse range of structural projects, as well as supporting other projects as needed. The ideal candidate should possess a “can-do” attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast paced, and fun environment.Responsibilities
Develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for structural projects
Supports and mentors junior team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.
Support a diverse range of structural projects across VHB’s footprint
Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineering
Must possess strong technical skills with knowledge of structural systems and codes
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
Robust technical and critical thinking skills
Proactive and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail and quality
Ability to lead and collaborate with a team of staff working remotely
Enthusiasm to learn, seek out opportunities, and take responsibility
Strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in the use of structural engineering software Revit, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required, master’s degree preferred (may substitute for 1 year of experience)
3-5 years of structural engineering experience required.
EIT required.
PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months preferred.
Familiarity with Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build project delivery
