Cortez - Process Long-Range Projects & Study Lead

- Represent the Cortez Process team in supporting all aspects of long-range projects and studies. Work closely with mining engineers, process engineers, environmental engineers, project engineers, and contractors for assigned projects and studies.
- Interface with other departments including, but not limited to operations, maintenance, technical services, projects, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), and other departments impacted by the project or study. Obtain customer input and support of designs and deliverables and keep process leadership apprized throughout the project to ensure alignment and agreement upon deliverables.
- Create economic evaluations for multiple processing scenarios as required.
- Interface with environmental department and/or permitting group to ensure permitting is secured, as needed, to prevent delays.
- Write and/or review technical memos, project scopes of work, procurement orders, required supporting documentation, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Apply DROM (Design for Reliability, Operability, and Maintainability), OR (Operational Readiness) principles, and Business Improvement practices to provide the safest solution with the lowest long-term cost and highest value.
- Proactively analyze problems as they occur and develop countermeasures to remediate the problem while remaining cognizant to not introduce other problems because of the implemented countermeasures.
- Effectively communicate with peers and stakeholders at all levels within the organization as required.
- Understand the fundamentals of other peripheral roles and be cognizant of overlaps and impacts to one another.
- Prepare and/or review capital requests including all required supporting documentation.
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor assigned projects/studies and manage them within the constraints of time, cost, and scope, and report any significant deviations including proposed countermeasures.
- Develop proposals and cost estimates for assigned projects/studies.
- Evaluate risks and consequences to understand both risks as well as opportunities associated with each project, study, or processing scenario.
- Develop relationships with all members of the Process Leadership Team and represent the interest of the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred
- Metallurgical engineering background preferred
- 5 Years experience in mineral processing including milling, leaching, and crushing operations required
- Experience in economic evaluations required.
- Experience in project planning and project management preferred
- Commitment to safety for self and others as well as embracing environmentally friendly work practices required
- Strong computer skills including experience with PowerPoint, Word & Excel required, experience with systems such as Deswik and SAP preferred
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills including time management, leadership, and decision-making abilities required
- Knowledge of general mining operations and practices required
- Knowledge of project prioritization, project execution, project management required
- Knowledge of short and long-range process planning preferred
- Knowledge of Business Improvement initiatives preferred
- Knowledge of OR (Operational Readiness) practices and how to apply them preferred
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with others required
- Ability to interface with multiple functions and roles and at all levels within the organization required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with various levels of employees required
- Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously required
- Ability to drive results and ensure completion of time sensitive deadlines required
