- Collaborate with the Lab Manager and Test Engineers to meet test schedule requirements.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain lab equipment and procedures, including mechanical and software applications related to testing requirements.
- Conduct tests on outdoor power equipment and report results as directed by engineering personnel.
- Perform tests on the durability, performance, and safety of outdoor power equipment.
- Troubleshoot test unit or equipment failures to determine root causes.
- Effectively communicate failure details to Test Engineers.
- Maintain documentation of test data for clear reporting of test results upon test completion.
- Construct necessary tooling/fixtures as directed by Test Engineers to properly test units or components.
- Fabricate and fit mechanical and electrical components.
- Perform preventative maintenance on test equipment as directed by Test Engineers.
- Collaborate with Test and Design Engineers to optimize test procedures.
- Create clear and concise test reports to communicate results.
- Maximize utilization of test assets.
- Provide technical support to Test Technicians and internal customers to achieve high-quality results.
- Assist in specifying, locating, and acquiring test equipment.
- Ensure safe work practices in field testing operations.
- Plan and direct activities to maintain compliance with safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report safety issues.
- 1-2+ years of testing experience in an R&D or lab environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data acquisition, data management, and report writing.
- Experience with engines, strain gauges, accelerometers, and circuit boards.
- Intermediate-level skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work off-shift hours and overtime, including weekends.
- Demonstrated performance in leading technical groups and meeting department goals.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Associate degree in Technical Science (MET, Electronics, etc.) or equivalent experience and training.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems such as LabView, PLC, and software applications related to testing systems.
- ASE or technical certification (e.g., Motorcycle Technician) preferred.
- Experience with agency test methods and requirements (UL, CSA, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with testing outdoor power equipment and/or consumer products preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO and UL requirements related to test methods and calibration preferred.
- Proficient in fabrication skills such as welding and machining.
- Computer Aided Drafting skills preferred.
- Ability to travel occasionally to domestic or international sites.
