When we contribute to the company’s success, we all win.In our organization, the Welding Engineer has a critical and challenging role in helping achieve innovation and meeting our commitments.POSITION SUMMARY:Provide technical expertise and oversight to the design and welding operations as it relates to the manufacturing and testing of manufactured products and services used in the drilling, completion, subsea, production and infrastructure sectors of the oil and natural gas industry, as well as in the industrial and military sectors.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the installation efforts and technical support of production for the new Electron Beam welding equipment as well as all new welding qualifications to NAVSEA specifications as required by purchasing and OSI military client.
Lead all efforts when establishing new WPS/PQRs as well as review and requalification of existing WPS/PQRs as necessary with changing codes and manufacturing requirements.
Arrange testing laboratory’s as necessary and witness all mechanical testing during welding procedure development/qualification.
Enter legacy WPS/PQRs into Weldeye Software and obsolete older procedures as necessary
Review job specification and customer requirements as it relates to welding and fabrication during the quote and proposal phase. Interpret code requirements for all aspects of design, qualifications, accept/reject criteria’s, etc., as it relates to welding and inspection.
Work with Engineering in the design phase of the projects to assure correct joint and welding details comply with code and customer requirements.
Assist manufacturing with all welding processes, to assure proper technique, personnel, and equipment are optimized to the maximum potential.
Assist in the purchase of all welding equipment/consumables and assure the proper storage and handling of all welding consumables.
Attend daily production meetings, contract review meetings, client kickoff meetings, internal kickoff meetings, etc. as required.
Work with purchasing when establishing welding requirements for jobs that have been contracted to a supplier.
Perform supplier quality audits as required.
Participate in technical support of all welding activities locally as well as other global divisions as directed
Travel to suppliers and/or OSI facilities domestically and overseas as required.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
BS (or higher) degree in Welding Engineering or related degree with at least 7 years of experience; or at least 11 years of equivalent training and/or experience.
Hands on experience with Electron Beam Welding preferred but not required.
Hands on experience with automated welding processes will be considered in lieu of experience with Electron Beam welding
Hands-on experience with GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, and TIG welding processes.
Hands-on experience with arc data monitoring systems.
Working knowledge of Titanium and Copper-Nickel alloys preferred but not required
Working knowledge of carbon steel, stainless, castings, and forgings.
Working knowledge of applicable AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, ASTM and API welding codes and specifications.
Knowledgeable in magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic and ultrasonic inspection techniques.
Ability to work on ad-hoc teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Must be US citizen.

Work will involve both office and shop environments.
No heavy lifting or manual labor will be required.
