
Sr. Manager, Engineering & Maintenance

- Develop and execute long-term strategies for maintenance and engineering excellence aligned with plant and corporate goals
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel
- Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of plant utilities including compressed air, water, and electrical distribution
- Ensure fire protection systems are compliant with regulatory standards and maintained for optimal performance
- Direct the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems and process controls
- Utilize predictive technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, etc.) to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver high-impact improvements
- Manage central machine shops and fabrication areas to support plant-wide maintenance and engineering needs
- Ensure availability of critical spares and timely repair of components
- Demonstrated experience managing contracted services and external vendors in a unionized manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of labor agreements and ability to navigate union protocols while ensuring compliance and collaboration
- Skilled in balancing internal workforce capabilities with outsourced solutions to optimize cost, efficiency, and labor relations
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline, required
- CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional), preferred
- 15+ years of engineering experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment, required
- 7+ years in a leadership or managerial role (preferably in aluminum or metals industry), required
- Strong knowledge of reliability engineering, fire protection systems, automation, and utilities, required
- Experience managing large teams and complex projects in a union environment, required
- Deep understanding of reliability engineering principles including RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and predictive maintenance technologies, required
- Proficient in root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and asset lifecycle management, strongly preferred
- Experience implementing and optimizing CMMS systems and reliability KPIs, strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of industrial fire protection systems including sprinklers, fire alarms, suppression systems and fire pumps, strong plus
- Familiarity with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) codes and standards, especially NFPA 25 (Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems), NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code), and NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), strong plus
- Strong background in industrial automation including PLCs and HMI systems, required
- Experience with system integration, control logic development, and troubleshooting of automated equipment, strongly preferred
- Experience with energy management systems and utility optimization, strongly preferred
