- Ability to lead small work groups. Ability to communicate basic work instructions from supervisor to custodial employees.
- Previous general custodial experience.
- Experience in the following categories: Restroom Care Carpet Care Hard Floor Care
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
- Excellent people skills.
- Experience working a night shift.
- General knowledge of safety precautions in the use of equipment, chemicals, lifting, customer traffic, etc.
- Understand the emergency preparation and response plan.
- Cleaning Skills: able to sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, polish, perform overhead cleaning, wash walls & amp; windows, clean bathrooms and kitchens, and clean other building surfaces.
- Ability to use all cleaning equipment: floor machines for bonneting, buffing, and polishing, extractors, upholstery machines, tank vacuums, upright and backpack vacuums, wide area vacuums, mops and brooms, extension poles, short ladders, etc.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, ability to select appropriate chemical for the job, ability to mix and dilute chemicals appropriately, and handle chemicals safely.
- Ability to read and understand labels or instructions for cleaning solutions utilized in housekeeping.
- Ability to read, write, give and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to prepare repair orders.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, and supervisor.
- Ability to work well with the public. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to learn and implement security measures.
- Ability to interpret and follow setup diagrams for conference rooms and lounges.
- Desired: Experience in specialist janitorial operations.
- Must accept a 5 day workweek that may include weekends, and include occasional overtime assignments.
- Schedule and shift assignment determined by management.
- Workweek and times are subject to change.
