As an Engineering Manager with a focus on Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Reliability Engineering in a manufacturing plant, your role involves overseeing strategic investments in infrastructure, equipment, and technology, as well as optimizing asset performance and reliability. Here's an overview of your responsibilities and qualifications:Responsibilities:Capital Expenditure Management:
  • Develop and implement capital investment strategies aligned with business objectives, production needs, and long-term growth plans.
  • Identify and prioritize capital projects based on ROI analysis, risk assessment, and strategic alignment with operational goals.
Project Planning and Execution:
  • Lead cross-functional project teams through the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and concept development to design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of capital projects within scope and quality standards.
Reliability Engineering:
  • Develop and implement reliability engineering strategies to maximize the uptime, performance, and lifespan of manufacturing equipment and assets.
  • Conduct reliability analyses, including failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), root cause analysis (RCA), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), to identify and mitigate potential failure modes and improve asset reliability.
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:
  • Establish preventive maintenance programs and schedules to proactively maintain and inspect critical equipment, reducing unplanned downtime and extending asset life.
  • Implement predictive maintenance technologies, such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography, and oil analysis, to monitor equipment health and detect potential failures before they occur.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and Kaizen practices to optimize processes and drive efficiency gains.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis:
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost control measures to ensure financial discipline and accountability in capital spending and operational expenses.
  • Conduct financial analyses, including cost-benefit analysis, NPV calculations, and ROI assessments, to evaluate investment opportunities and make data-driven decisions.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities to foster talent retention and career growth.
  • Promote a culture of safety, collaboration, and innovation among team members, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field). Advanced degree or MBA is beneficial.
  • Experience: Extensive experience in engineering and project management roles within a manufacturing environment, with a focus on CapEx management and reliability engineering.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team-building skills to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams, drive change, and achieve organizational goals.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and reliability engineering methodologies, with proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
