As part of this commitment, we invest in on-the-job training to prepare employees for their new positions, offer professional development opportunities, coaching, and career pathways to promote our culture of helping staff advance their careers through the organization.JOB DESCRIPTIONSummary/ObjectiveThe Veteran Services Education Coordinator (Wyoming and Western South Dakota) works as a team member to identify and implement training for Veteran Services in Wyoming and Western South Dakota. They will collaborate with the Veteran Services Education Coordinator (Montana) to provide staff with effective training so that they can deliver high quality case management services to Veterans. This position will require travel to offices around Wyoming and Western South Dakota to implement a training curriculum and to provide technical assistance to staff as necessary.Essential Functions
  • Identify, oversee, and develop a training curriculum for new hires in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program and tailor individual training plans according to the SSVF program roles.
  • Maintain consistent contact with new hires during the first 60 days of employment to provide support and address concerns.
  • Work with leadership in other Veteran Services programming to identify, oversee, and implement training as necessary. Other programs can include but are not limited to:
  • Grant and Per Diem (GPD)
  • Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP)
  • Staff Sergeant Fox (SSG Fox) Suicide Prevention Grant
  • Ensure that all SSVF training is tracked, documented, and uploaded into VOA's education and training software program (Relias).
  • Provide training for all Veteran Services staff in various subject areas, including MANDT, Mediation, Mental Health First Aid, Motivational Interviewing, and First Aid/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Work with all approved SSVF mentors to ensure their training is consistent with the training curriculum developed. Provide guidance and support to SSVF mentors as necessary.
  • Provide additional training and support to SSVF staff as necessary, in consultation with SSVF leadership.
  • Collaborate with Veteran Services leadership to ensure that all training provided is consistent with expectations and requirements from:
  • The US Department of Labor (DOL) for HVRP, or
  • The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for GPD, SSG Fox, and SSVF.
  • Participate in planning and implementation in training conducted as necessary at bi-annual meetings for all Veteran Services personnel in Wyoming and Western South Dakota. Collaborate with Veteran Services Education Coordinator (Montana) to ensure consistency in training provided in Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.TravelRegular travel required. Travel will include both day and overnight trips as necessary for essential organizational and program specific training.Required Education, Experience, or Eligibility Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or 2-5 year of equivalent experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must either be certified as a trainer or be able to obtain and maintain valid certifications as a trainer for Mental Health First Aid, MANDT, and Mediation.
  • If not certified as a trainer, certification needs to be obtained within:
  • 6 months of hiring for:
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • MANDT
  • 9 months of hiring for:
  • Mediation
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in human services or related field
  • Two years of program management in the nonprofit sector
  • Five years of experience in the non-profit
