This is a great time for key individuals to be a part of the double-digit growth of an organization that continuously creates new opportunities for team members to develop while changing the industry landscape.About the Position:Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Director, the Procurement & Materials Manager plays a strategic and hands-on role in managing purchasing activities, material planning, and product specifications across the organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned purchasing professional who also understands the broader context of production planning, inventory control, and supply chain operations.
This individual will serve as a key cross-functional liaison across Procurement, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory teams, ensuring that materials, specifications, and labels are accurately managed, compliant, and aligned with operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Inventory Management
- Lead procurement activities for non-beef materials including ingredients, packaging, and indirect supplies.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and secure materials in alignment with production schedules and cost objectives.
- Monitor material stock levels and coordinate timely replenishment to support uninterrupted production.
- Perform regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies to maintain accurate stock records.
- Own and manage the full lifecycle of product specifications and labeling, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, etc.).
- Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Regulatory to update and maintain ingredient declarations, nutrition facts, and other label components.
- Ensure artwork version control, change management documentation, and centralized digital storage of all specifications and labels.
- Work closely with production planning and supply chain teams to ensure Bill of Materials (BOMs) are accurate and aligned with actual material needs.
- Ensure all raw materials meet safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Support ERP system implementation and other digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for senior management, providing visibility into KPIs, inventory trends, cost savings, and supply risk.
- Conduct analytical assessments to support forecasting, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements across purchasing, specification management, and material planning.
- Strong background in purchasing or procurement, ideally within food, manufacturing, or CPG industries.
- Working knowledge of production planning, inventory control, and supply chain principles.
- Experience with labeling regulations (FDA, USDA), BOM maintenance, and specification systems.
- Proficiency in ERP and PLM systems; experience in Genesis, SAP, Specright, or similar tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and cross-functional communication abilities.
- Perform other duties and support other activities as assigned by Management within scope and ability
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a related role, preferably with BOM management.
- Strong understanding of inventory management systems (e.g., ERP software like SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
