- Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment including, diesel-, electric-, and gasoline-powered vehicles, trucks, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in utility work.
- Repairs and adjusts cutting mechanisms on various heavy and light mowing equipment.
- Sets up and modifies new equipment as needed.
- Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work.
- Maintains a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment.
- Spot checks equipment for performance on the course frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course.
- Oversees the shop maintenance area.
- Detects, determines the cause(s) of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems, corrects the cause(s) of the problems, and performs related repairs as necessary.
- Lifts, pulls, and holds mechanical parts and tools, both large and small
- Operates heavy and light equipment.
- Performs general labor and cleaning related to golf course maintenance equipment.
- Trains all employees in proper operation and maintenance of machinery/vehicles.
- Keeps work area neat and organized as necessary for efficient job performance.
- Sharpen and adjust mower reels and bed knives.
- Other duties supporting the operation may be assigned.
- The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience as a golf course mechanic.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, and customers.
- Ability to manage time effectively and multi-task.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

- Operate a variety of automotive repair tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Diagnose mechanical problems of small and heavy golf course maintenance equipment.
- Work independently in the absence of supervision.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Knowledge of the operation and repair of both gasoline and diesel engines.
- Knowledge of the operation and repair of manual transmissions, drive trains, brakes, suspensions, and steering in all golf course equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic operations/repairs as related to pumps, controls, and transmission devices.
- Knowledge of electricity and its components as it is related to vehicles and machinery.
