- Operate Equipment Safely: Run heavy highway construction equipment with a focus on safety.
- Inspect and Maintain: Conduct daily pre-and post-trip inspections and perform maintenance checks.
- Communicate Needs: Report any necessary repairs to the foreperson and equipment manager.
- Equipment Hauling: Haul heavy construction equipment to job sites.
- Tool Operation: Use various hand and power tools while performing manual labor.
- Site Cleanliness: Keep the job site clean by picking up tools and equipment daily.
- Safety First: Participate in weekly toolbox safety talks and annual safety meetings, and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned.
- Dependable Attendance: Regular, dependable attendance is essential.
- Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate heavy construction equipment.
- Instruction Compliance: Listen, understand, and follow instructions.
- Drug Screen: Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- License: Valid Class A commercial driver's license with an insurable driving record.
- Required Endorsements: Manual transmission and airbrakes. Tanker endorsement a plus.
- Age: Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience: At least 3 months of experience operating heavy equipment.
- Weather Conditions: Able to work in all types of weather.
- Equipment Access: Frequently climb in and out of equipment using three points of contact.
- Safety: Work safely alongside moving construction equipment, pedestrians, and open traffic lanes.
- Vision: Sufficient vision including depth perception and peripheral vision for safe equipment operation.
- Endurance: Sit, stand, and walk for long periods (10+ hours).
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity to operate equipment, tools, and perform various physical tasks.
- Lifting: Lift, push, pull, and carry 50 pounds regularly.
- Movement: Capable of standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, bending, crouching, twisting, reaching, and climbing.
- Hazards: Exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and all types of weather conditions. The noise level is usually loud. Operators work alongside moving heavy equipment, pedestrians, and open lanes of traffic. Vehicles may travel at speeds exceeding 70 mph.
