The engineer will focus on building secure, scalable, and cost-efficient systems while applying modern DevOps, ETL, and cloud engineering practices - requiring a strong technologist with hands-on expertise across data pipelines, orchestration, governance, and cloud infrastructure.Key Responsibilities
Data Platform Engineering
  • Design, build, and maintain ELT/ETL pipelines across Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric Gen 2, Azure Synapse Analytics, and legacy SQL/Oracle systems.
  • Implement medallion/lakehouse architecture patterns, CDC pipelines, and streaming ingestion frameworks.
  • Develop scalable data models, schemas, and transformation layers that support enterprise reporting and advanced analytics.
  • Optimize Snowflake and Synapse performance and cost (clustering, partitioning, warehouse tuning, resource monitoring).
  • Leverage Python and SQL for data processing, orchestration, and automation.
Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps
  • Architect and manage AWS and Azure multi-account environments, ensuring MFA, IAM policies, and governance are enforced.
  • Deploy infrastructure using Terraform, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and CloudFormation for reproducible, version-controlled environments.
  • Build serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions) for event-driven data flows.
  • Implement containerized services with Docker/Kubernetes for orchestration and workload isolation.
  • Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, MWAA/Airflow, dbt) for automated testing and deployments.
  • Establish observability frameworks with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Azure Monitor for performance, availability, and cost transparency.
Integration & Architecture
  • Engineer integrations across Salesforce Data Cloud/Marketing Cloud, finance systems, payment gateways (Stripe/PayPal), call center platforms, and shipboard systems.
  • Apply strong API and data exchange standards (REST/SOAP, JSON, XML, streaming).
  • Implement secrets management practices (vault-based credential management, Azure Key Vault, Airflow, Databricks, external APIs).
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise security, compliance, and governance frameworks (PCI-DSS, SOX, GDPR, CCPA).
Governance, Quality & Reliability
  • Implement automated data quality validation, lineage tracking, and impact analysis frameworks.
  • Define disaster recovery, rollback, and versioning strategies across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Monitor and optimize compute/storage spend; provide reporting and visibility on consumption and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support IT and Security teams with audits, vulnerability assessments, and incident response protocols.
Technical Excellence
  • Apply engineering standards in Python, SQL, CI/CD, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Stay current on new tools and technologies across AWS, Azure, and open source; evaluate and recommend adoption where applicable.
  • Document architectures, processes, and patterns to enable knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Troubleshoot complex pipeline, infrastructure, and integration issues across multiple environments.
Qualifications
Required
  • 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering across cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Expert in SQL (Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Oracle, SQL Server) and Python for pipelines, APIs, and automation.
  • Proven success designing and scaling platforms on Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric Gen 2, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Strong hands-on experience with workflow orchestration (Airflow/MWAA, Azure Data Factory, dbt).
  • Demonstrated mastery of Terraform/IaC, serverless AWS & Azure architectures, Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Strong DevOps background (CI/CD pipelines, Git branching strategies, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code).
  • Familiarity with enterprise governance, RBAC, metadata lineage, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana, Azure Monitor).
  • Ability to debug and resolve complex data issues spanning multiple systems.
Preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud integrations and identity resolution.
  • Background in finance systems, revenue recognition, or high-volume payment processing.
  • Hands-on exposure to Iceberg/Delta tables and advanced data lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience optimizing Snowflake, Synapse, and Databricks clusters for cost efficiency.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-driven analytics, predictive modeling, or real-time inference workflows.
  • Prior experience in travel, hospitality, or consumer-facing industries.
