Job Description:Exceptional Child ParaprofessionalSpecial Education Environmental Aide/Instructional AssistantInstructional AssistantQualifications:at least 60 hours of college credit oran Associate's Degree ora passing score on the Kentucky Paraprofessional Test.Reports To: Building Principal, Special EducationCoordinator, and Teacher.Job Duties/ Responsibilities:1. Assists the student in maneuvering aboutthe school building.2. Carries OUT duties assigned by the FMDteacher, the special educationcoordinator, and principal includingthose associated with daily living skills(hygiene, grooming, feeding).3. Performs activities as stated on thestudents’ IEP.4. Assists with classroom instructionalactivities in which the handicappedstudent is involved.5. Performs physical/occupational activitiesas indicated by the physical therapist/teacher/occupational therapist.6. Assists the students in completingphysical education activities to thefullest extent possible – under directionof the P.E. instructor/ physical therapist/teacher.7. Assists with community-basedinstructional activities.8. Assists the student in any instructionalclassroom activities that he/she may misswhile being out of the room for therapies,etc.9. Reinforces lessons taught and to providedirect assistance in practice activities.10. Reinforces lessons taught and to providedirect assistance in practice activities.11. Attends IEP meetings/parentconferences at the discretion of theteacher.12. The aide is to be familiar with tornadoand fire evacuation procedures.13. Interprets school programs and policiesin a positive manner with thecommunity.14. Keeps records as designated by theschool, teacher principal. and/orspecial education coordinator.15. Assists in reasonable non-teaching dutiesas assigned by the principal and/orspecial education coordinator.16. Maintains confidentiality of all schoolrecords and school related matters.17. The aide is to become acquainted withboard policies and special educationadministrative polices as they pertain tothe position of FMD/SevereDisabilities/Physical/OrthopedicHandicapped Aide..18. Adheres to a working day as specifiedfor that school or particular position.19. The aide is to become familiar withmedical equipment/assistive technologydevices used by the students.20. Assists in student behavior managementprocedures/processes as needed.21. Participates in professional developmentactivities related to this position.22. Serve as a bus monitor for thehandicapped bus.23. Performs other duties as assigned.Terms of Service: NOTE: Due to uncertain future of studentswithin the district, it is expected that this position be flexible and adjust to changes inschedule, work load, and responsibilities as the need arises. The principal/special education coordinator has the right to assign extra duties based on the enrollment of otherchildren as needed.District Administrative Personnel have the right to assign the position to another building and child as the needs arise at any time during the year.Salary schedule set by Board of Education.185 days/ 6.5 hours per dayor as otherwise set by the Board.Evaluations: Principal/Special Education Director.Yearly
