FlightSafety operates the world’s largest fleet of advanced full-flight simulators and award-winning maintenance training at Learning Centers and training locations in the United States, Canada, France and the United Kingdom.Purpose of PositionThe Senior Software Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining, and identifying improvements by planning, implementing, and monitoring software framework solutions.Tasks and Responsibilities
Identify and develop product specification, system design, development, and system integration for new and existing software applications
Develop, test and maintain multi-tier web applications and windows-based programs/utilities
Conduct new technology research and concept specifications to influence the design of individual software components
Collaborate with cross-functional areas on products and programs that will contribute to FSI's strategic direction, development, and future growth
Monitor, configure, and improve integration with COTS platforms
Consult with users on problem determination and provide root cause analysis in a timely manner
Provide 24x7 on-call support, after-hours, and weekend work as needed
Ability to mentor other team members, providing feedback and guidance when needed
Accountable and responsible for the accuracy and completeness of assigned work and results
Prioritize and manage workload and communicate issues clearly
Complete other tasks as required
Travel when required
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience
Minimum Experience
5+ years of experience in any software development role
Solid experience in .NET platform and MVC
Solid experience in Java/J2EE preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Solid experience programming in Visual Studio Development Environment utilizing the .NET languages (C#, VB.NET); Programming experience in C++, development of Computer Based Training (CBT) and/or training device system simulation is a plus
Strong knowledge and experience in the entire software development life cycle including requirements gathering and analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation for various development platforms
Solid understanding of Web Development: HTML5 and Angular JS or similar JavaScript libraries
Knowledge of web service models: SOAP, OData, REST
Knowledge of Javascript and JQuery
Experience with 3rd party Javascript libraries such as Angular JS, Knockout JS, JQueryUI, or similar preferred
Experience with using SQL Server as a backend preferred
Experience with TFS and Git preferred
Demonstrated capability to write software routines to support courseware and training devices that include graphics, simulation, animation, and user interaction
Experienced in the use and programming of MS-Windows Operating System
Solid understanding of testing principles, methodologies, tools, and processes
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
