We teach tomorrow's physicians and healthcare professionals to provide excellent medical care with compassion and kindness.As a part of Uptown Community Health Center, Bruner Family Medicine sees patients of all ages and backgrounds. As the main clinic for a Residency program we have over 30 different Providers. We have 4 specialty clinics within Bruner that are ran by our Faculty.Our Medical Assistants (MAs) are highly valued team members with an important role in our health center. Our MAs work in partnership with our providers and other clinic staff to provide excellent patient care in our patient centered medical home model.As a Medical Assistant you will:Perform administrative and clinical duties.The clinical aspects of this position include working closely with providers, assisting with patient examinations and treatments, performing various tests, and maintaining medical equipment and supplies. MAs are pivotal in managing how the patient flows through the office visits and coordinating with other care team members.The administrative aspects of the Medical Assistant position include scheduling all types of appointments and diagnostic testing; answering, documenting, and triaging phone calls; and ensuring the patient is connected with appropriate care team members. Also coordinating the completion of paperwork and assisting with medication refills. In the learning environment of a residency program, Medical Assistants play a crucial role in upholding and educating standard work processes and procedures.Assume responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the patient.May perform a variety of clinical tasks as directed by an authorized health care provider in accordance with our MA Scope of Practice.May assist with front office duties and scheduling of tests and/or patient appointments. Responsible for accurate chart documentation and medical record maintenance.Demonstrates personal accountability for relationship based care, organizational mission, and core values. Medical Assistants are essential to delivering whole person care to our patients.Qualifications -Required:
  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers required
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required
Preferred:
  • Two (2) years experience in integrated healthcare or primary care.
  • Experience with Epic application and heath record.
  • Experience working with and sensitivity toward special populations, including those with limited income, limited education, and non-English speaking individuals.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish, complete comprehension, literacy and fluency in both languages
Physical Requirements:Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)
