- In accordance with Company policies and legal requirements, resolves sensitive situations relating to employee relations matters; investigates and resolves employee issues and concerns to address root causes, documenting and escalating as appropriate.
- Collaborates with employees, managers/supervisors, the Benefits team, other members of the HR team, as needed, to support employee needs and develop and implement effective solutions for accommodation and leave-related issues; provides guidance and support to employees and managers to effectively navigate the accommodation and leave process; supports business objectives regarding leaves of absence (LOA) and accommodations; May liaise with third party leave administration and Legal partners.
- May conduct period audits/assessments to help ensure compliance with Company policies and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Working closely with HRBPs assigned to support individual departments, this role takes lead on complex performance management issues involving employee complaints and/or LOAs and accommodations.
- Provides coaching, counseling, and mentoring to managers, supervisors, and staff.
- May counsel employees concerning work-related issues and the outcome of investigations.
- Partners closely with Tandem’s internal Legal team to assist in development and execution of risk management strategies and protective measures, may liaise with external legal counsel as needed.
- Identifies initiatives spanning organizational design, workforce planning, and skills assessment and development aimed at reducing employee relations issues.
- Proactively identifies trends and areas of opportunity related to Talent Acquisition.
- Develops and acts as a mentor for more junior members of the HR team.
- Advocates and drives compliance for DEI processes and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations including creating investigation reports.
- Demonstrated experience drafting and implement formal performance management documentation.
- In depth understanding of all aspects of US employment and human resources related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices, including ADA, ADEA and FMLA. Understanding of Canadian and European employment laws a plus.
- In depth understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion issues and how they apply to employee relations.
- Understanding of the business needs and challenges surrounding high-volume, non-exempt business units such as Manufacturing and Customer Service.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including excellent active listening skills.
- Ability to influence leaders in achievement in alignment with corporate processes as well as legal requirements.
- Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills.

- 5-7 years of Human Resources progressive generalist experience that supports company business objectives including 5 years’ primary emphasis in Employee Relations and Performance Management.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, emphasis in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- PHR or SPHR strongly preferred.
- Previous experience managing leaves of absence preferred.
- J.D. highly desirable.
