Performs a combination of cleaning duties in the clinics and patient care areas while following hospital safety protocols. Job duties will require travel to offsite clinics.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, breakrooms, restrooms, corridors, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
Empty wastebaskets and transport other trash and waste to disposal areas.
Sweep, and scrub floors, using brooms and mops.
Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy.
Stock toilet paper and paper towel holders in bathrooms.
Clean breakroom and kitchen areas, including countertops, sinks, microwave, and refrigerator.
Clean windows, doors, and other high-touch areas.
Sort, count, and mark clean linens, and store them on linen shelves.
Cleans and disinfects patient rooms and public areas as assigned daily, following environmental services procedures.
May work with biohazardous materials, using proper protocol for use and disposal.
Reports all building and/or furniture maintenance requirements to the Director of Support Services.
Responsible for the operation of cleaning equipment in a safe and productive manner.
Protects patient privacy and confidentiality.
Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Job RequirementEducation: High School diploma or GED requiredLicensure/Certification: Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician preferred within one year of hire. A valid Indiana Driver’s license in good standing is required.Experience: 2 – 3 years previous housekeeping/janitorial experience preferred. Knowledge of safety procedures. Must be able to operate Environmental Services equipment. Ability to read directions on labels. Ability to follow verbal instructions.Physical Requirements: Frequent standing and walking. May frequently lift up to 50 lbs. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending.
