- Perform machine checkout (MCO) on our machine tool products to ensure they are fully functional, achieves our high quality standards and meets our customer's expectations.
- Perform MCO efficiently to meet business goals to achieve actual hours that are less than the planned and to meet scheduling milestones.
- Support other groups, as needed, by keeping machines operational after MCO through machine teardown and also, to support the Installation group for issues related to machine functionality.
- Interpret electrical/mechanical prints, MCO procedures and vendor documentation in conjunction with a working knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems to properly setup the machine and to troubleshoot simple issues as necessary.
- Commission automation controls to our machine tools and their accessories.
- Support assembly floor, as needed, with operating unit test stands.
- Provide Test Engineers with technical feedback pertaining to problems discovered during commissioning and setup of our machine tools and then support them to development long-term corrective actions to those problems.
- Train assembly floor employees to operate our machine tools with the various automation controls, when requested.
- Take occasional trips to the field to assist Installations.
- Perform a range of operations to install a variety of electrical components and purchased accessories to our machine tool products.
- Interpret electrical/mechanical prints, assembly work instructions and vendor documentation to ensure proper electrical installation of components and purchased accessories.
- Connect and remove temporary power as needed to our machine tool products.
- Wire units and machine efficiently to meet business goals to achieve actual hours that are less than the planned and to meet scheduling milestones.
- Develop and maintain written assembly work instructions and adhere to existing ones.
- Comply with standard safety precautions and electrical codes.
- Disassemble and/or disconnect any electrical connection to check, ship, rebuild, or replace various components.
- Solder electrical connectors, components and circuit boards.
- Document wiring correction in a manner that follows company practices.
- Detect and report unusual conditions, code violations, or faulty material to supervision.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 4 - 6 years related experience and/or training.
- High mechanical aptitude
- Good understanding of electrical and wiring concepts
- Reading and interrupting hydraulic and electrical schematics and mechanical prints
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Proficient technical writing skills
- Ability to verbally communicate technical problems and situations
- Works well in a team environment
- Experience with Fanuc and/or Siemens controls is a plus
- Experience working with machine tools or highly automated machinery is a plus
- Ability to solder small electrical connectors
