
Civil Construction Quality Control Manager (Subregion- SE Idaho & Wyoming)

- Lead and develop a high-performing QC team aligned with the company’s core values.
- Champion a culture of safety, aiming for zero incidents across all QC operations.
- Maintain and enhance QC/QA processes to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversee all quality control activities for hot mix asphalt (HMA) and aggregate production, ensuring adherence to specifications at all jurisdictional levels.
- Promote awareness of key performance indicators (KPIs) and cost control measures.
- Foster strong communication channels across business units to support product quality and customer service.
- Interface with internal and external stakeholders to meet material submittal and testing deadlines.
- Review and approve regional mix designs, balancing cost-efficiency, feasibility, and quality.
- Provide guidance to paving teams on process adjustments to meet specifications.
- Manage employee performance through coaching, feedback, recognition, and disciplinary action as needed.
- Maintain current QC/QA certifications and ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure laboratory equipment and reference materials are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Mentor team members in technical, operational, and supervisory areas.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Represent the company in industry associations and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
- Review and coordinate weekly and monthly paving schedules.
- Handle administrative tasks including recordkeeping, reporting, and procurement.
- Support recruitment and hiring processes as needed.
- Conduct lab tours and communicate procedures to visitors and stakeholders.
- Oversee training and certification programs for lab personnel.
- Manage financial aspects of the QC business unit, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Allocate workloads and manage staffing schedules for lab operations.
- Review testing procedures and results to ensure compliance with established standards.
- Administer Quality Management System (QMS) and Regional Safety Operations (RSO) programs
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- WAQTC and AASHTO qualification certificates in all areas of the field.
- Five (5) years’ experience in all areas of testing (WAQTC and AASHTO).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a staff of 5 or more employees.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute, rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instruction.
- Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
- May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical abilities testing.
- Must have a current and valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
