- Develop new opto-mechanical production capabilities to meet unique product design requirements.
- Champion concurrent engineering principles during program launch to align product and process development.
- Engage cross-functional teams (process engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, etc.) through design reviews and development phases.
- Specify new manufacturing capabilities by developing new techniques or equipment, tools, fixtures, and test systems.
- Create detailed documentation, including process flow charts, work instructions, process sheets, and checklists.
- Lead prototype and pilot builds to ensure quality and delivery goals are met.
- Provide training to manufacturing personnel for new processes and capabilities.
- Interface with development, engineering, and manufacturing teams to design and analyze first-generation and next-generation opto-mechanical products, instruments, and components.
- Solve complex mechanical, opto-mechanical, and process engineering challenges using state-of-the-art tools and methodologies.
- Document project results through design reviews, technical reports, and presentations.
- Manage project timelines and execute assignments independently with minimal supervision.
- BS in Optical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Strong technical curiosity and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in opto-mechanical design principles, fixture design, precision assembly processes, and error budgeting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in matrixed project teams and independently manage objectives.
- Systematic decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent planning, prioritization, and goal-setting skills for managing multiple projects.
- Hands-on experience with close-tolerance optical/mechanical assembly, assembly equipment, and cleanroom environments.
- Familiarity with metrology equipment (e.g., interferometers, profilometers, autocollimators).
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., Creo CAD).
- Expertise in precision alignment, positioning, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience transitioning products from development to manufacturing
