West Monroe, LAThis opening is on 2nd shift/evenings, Monday-FridaySummary:The Supervisor of Production will Provide front line supervision and coordination of the mechanical services shop work force to ensure the safe and efficient flow of work through the shop.Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly shop.
- Supervise and assist the hourly workforce in the performance of their specific job functions to maintain acceptable efficiencies.
- Maintain an acceptable level of necessary shop supplies to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist engineering in scheduling and prioritizing job execution to meet customer needs.
- Monitor, manage, & improve job quality.
- Monitor and manage labor hours spent on all jobs.
- Train all new shop employees and provide on-going training as required.
- Assist in monitoring and scheduling maintenance of shop and grounds.
- Assist in the selection and hiring of new shop employees.
- Provide consistent, fair discipline throughout work force as required.
- Provide overall shop management as required on weekend duty per rotating schedule.
- Some travel required to visit customers & suppliers as needed.

- Computer / Digital Proficient (minimum requirement in Microsoft Office products)
- Experience with ERP systems such as JDE or SAP preferred
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in supervisory role
- Minimum 2 years of machine shop experience or equivalent industrial work preferred.
- Knowledge of machine tool techniques and metal cutting as well as good general mechanical services knowledge of papermill rolls preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across teams
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low) and shop environment (noise level high). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office/shop environment from 4-10 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
