If you’re searching for something more than just a job, something akin to a calling, then consider the challenge and opportunity of being a member of Johnson County Government!Job DescriptionThis position manages the group responsible for inspection of new construction of sanitary sewer main projects and sanitary sewer service lines to ensure these facilities are constructed to Johnson County Wastewater standards and specifications.Job Duties include:
  • Manages and monitors sewer main projects ensuring construction ensuring they meet JCW specifications, standards, and construction drawings; ensures the consulting engineering observer is enforcing JCW specifications and standards; issues code enforcement tickets in compliance with JCW’s Sewer Use Code, standards and specifications.
  • Manages the inspection process to confirms installation and repair of sanitary sewer service lines are done properly; verifies the installer has completed installation in accordance with permits issued by JCW and in accordance with JCW specifications and standards; oversees the inspections of JCW manholes and other at grade structures by performing follow-up inspections during the site development process to ensure their reliability.
  • Resolves conflict and demonstrates effective customer relation skills; works with customers and staff to continuously improve the level of service; provides input on JCW specifications and products approved for use in JCW’s collection system; leads or participates on various departmental cross functional teams and works to implement initiatives; directs and facilitates trainings on confined space entry, trenches, and other designated structures; provides in-depth knowledge for evaluation sites and application of procedures.
Job RequirementsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering Technology or relevant field is required. Five years' experience in civil or mechanical infrastructure construction or design or relevant field is required. A valid driver's license and must pass a background check are required.Preferred Requirements:One year leading, directing, supervising, or coordinating the work of others preferred.Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:- Sensory abilities, including vision and/or hearing requirements- Excessive standing and/or walking 25% of the time- Exposure to extreme temperatures- Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals- Exposure to heights- Lifting weight up to 80 pounds is required- Uniform is required- Travel driving to inspections is required- Construction site safety skills and experience required- Using computer and technology software for a variety of work-related tasks requiredEducation may substitute for experience and experience may substitute for education.
