- Lead the full project lifecycle from concept through completion, managing internal deliverables for all projects assigned to the team or department.
- Oversee and drive mechanical engineering schedules, resource allocation, and cross-functional meetings across various project scopes-including customer orders, product development, and process improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, including internal team members, subcontractors, and clients, to ensure project alignment and transparency.
- Ensure successful execution of the product line-including delivery, continuous improvement, warranty resolution, and overall performance.
- Design and engineer machines and system solutions in accordance with AMF standards, customer specifications, and all applicable national and local codes.
- Monitor and manage department performance against key metrics and targets.
- Provide technical direction and support to teammates on new initiatives, design enhancements, and innovative solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve cross-functional issues involving engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and installation teams.
- Lead and manage Research & Development (R&D) initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and product strategy.
- Drive and execute Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) efforts to enhance product value, reduce cost, and improve performance.
- Take ownership of strategic initiatives assigned to the group, ensuring timely execution and measurable results.
- Plan and oversee the effective execution of R&D activities, optimizing resources and innovation processes.
- Provide remote support to field service technicians during system service calls, installations, and commissioning activities.
- Deliver on-site troubleshooting and startup assistance to ensure successful system operation.
- Ensure all required engineering documentation is accurate, complete, and delivered to the installation team in a timely manner.
- Support cross-functional teams in resolving process issues across all departments.
- Ensure consistency in engineering processes and adherence to design standards.
- Apply root cause analysis methodologies to identify and resolve technical problems.
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership and support to manufacturing operations.
- Assist in managing the warranty process and driving effective resolution of field issues.
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- Proficient in AutoCAD for designing mechanical systems.
- Experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks or Solid Edge) is a plus.
- Moderate project management skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Competency with Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and software is a plus.
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley Operator Interface hardware.
- Ability to understand and design electrical control schematic diagrams.
- Ability to specify, assist with installation, debug, and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Strong mechanical understanding of machine functions.
- Ability to integrate electrical components into control systems to ensure proper machine operation.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations such as NFPA 70, NFPA 79, UL 508A, and agency approvals relevant to control systems manufactured at AMF is a plus.
- Ability to design, understand, and implement machine safety standards.
- Skilled in problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis and the 5 Whys method.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project.
- Self-starter who requires minimal supervision and works well in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Ability to maintain a professional image and work well with others, representing AMF positively.
- Travel 25-30%
