- Prior experience with chemical addiction and/or mental health disease including
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working in substance abuse and/or mental health
- The ability to triage in an emergency, assisting with nurses in medical emergencies.
- Administer scheduled and PRN medications, including subcutaneous and intramuscular injection under supervision by RN.
- Administer and read PPDs.
- Administer medications and narcotics including all PRNs under RN supervision.
- Monitor patient self-administration of medications.
- Oversee and maintain functionality of medication room, monitoring for proper storing and ensure proper stock is maintained.
- Assist with filling all physician orders, labs, and progress notes for all patients.
- Receive telephone and verbal orders from the physician and mid-level providers.
- Ensure proper documentation of medications including PRNs and the effect it had on the patient.
- Review the medical section of each chart for accuracy and that the labs and any testing results are accessible daily in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians and RN to determine patient’s plan of care.
- Documentation of nursing notes and vital signs defined by Policy & Procedure.
- Assist the RN with nursing assessments and admissions as supervised by the RN.
- Provide insulin administration to insulin-dependent diabetics. Assist patients newly diagnosed with glucose monitoring, proper diet teaching and determine/assess the understanding of education.
- Nursing groups focusing on health information including infectious disease, nutrition, various medical and mental health conditions.
- Provide discharge medication and follow up education.
- Collection of urine specimens. Read and document results from UDS, UA, and Pregnancy tests.
- Assessment of withdrawal symptoms via COWs and CIWAs
- Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
