Horizon Health is seeking an intake manager for our inpatient psychiatric unit at Northport Medical Center in Northport, AL. The Intake Services Manager will oversee the daily operational functions of Intake Team. These functions include scheduling, managing of CAC issues and delegating of responsibility to staff. Ensures that all CACs receive general and department specific training. They will conduct assessments to determine the disposition that best addresses a patient’s needs. The Intake Services Manager will provide clinical interventions which best support the patient’s stabilization and resolution of the crisis or problem. They will work with referral sources to facilitate admissions to the behavioral health unit(s) of the facility.Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the oversight of the program’s admissions
- Creates and maintains department procedures in the following areas: census maintenance, daily census records, inquiry calls and referrals, and ensures that the level of treatment and clinical services is appropriate to all patient needs.
- Responsible for the admissions services policies and procedures, regulatory compliance and service excellence
- Responds to intake calls and accurately gathers information, completes Intake Form and engages access coordinator.
- Completes assessments, referrals and linkages for ER patients.
- Provide direct care such as crisis counseling, proving psychosocial support.
- Schedules Unit assessments, meetings and appointments as appropriate.
- Consults with receiving ER or Psychiatric Emergency Services staff on medical clearance for patients being transferred for admission.
- Provides resources and support for patient before, during and after treatment of patient.
- Reviews newly admitted patient accounts for eligibility and authorization daily.
- Coordinates admission between referral source and appropriate units.
- Completes Horizon Inquiry Form for each patient seen in ER and for each referral received during shift..
- Consultation with receiving facility psychiatrist regarding ER patients and referrals requesting psychiatric/detox admission.
- Verification of insurance coverage and pre-certification for all psychiatric hospitalizations.
- Perform various clerical assignments, and other duties assigned by the BHD
- Maintains schedule for filing court paperwork and hearings. Works closely with court personnel to maintain good relationships.
- Addresses issues in a timely manner including crisis and higher level of care referrals.
- Maintains a professional code of conduct as established by Horizon’s Code of Conduct.

- Enters required data into HorizonPlus system and generates monthly reports to track and trend referral, admission and discharge data.
- Utilizes data to complete program’s key statistical reports and generates reports as needed for the SVPO, VPCE, program director and client hospital leadership when requested..
- Assists in submission of reports and requests for documents from various regulatory agencies; re: PA Dept. of Health, CAP and Joint Commission
- Prepares and disseminates monthly reports and completes required follow up on activities on behalf of the Director. Prepares and submits all operational tasks/documentation (census report, PIORS) as required by the corporate offices.
- Willingness to adjust personal schedule in case of workload fluctuations or other departmental needs.

Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field is preferred; and/or
- A Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency is preferred
- Minimum three years’ of experience in a similar position and/or industry
