As an Operator B, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the University’s Power Plant and its connected systems. This position is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about energy operations and eager to grow their career in a supportive, mission-driven environment.What You’ll Do
  • Assist the Operator A in the operation and oversight of Power Plant equipment and remotely controlled systems.
  • Independently operate Power Plant boilers with minimal supervision.
  • Support the start-up or shutdown of equipment as part of routine operations or in emergency situations.
  • Perform chemical water analysis and adjust treatment levels as required.
  • Log and document plant activities accurately using Shift Connector and other systems.
  • Provide support for plant reliability, safety, and efficiency across all shifts.
  • Participate in snow/ice response, overtime, and on-call needs as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum).
  • One-year technical certificate or training from a college/technical school (preferred).
Experience1–2 years of relevant experience in utilities, power generation, or industrial systems.Certifications & Skills
  • Must obtain a Visible Emissions Certificate within six months of hire and maintain annually.
  • Proficiency with distributed control system software.
  • Competence in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Assetworks (AiM), including mobile applications.
  • Ability to use Shift Connector for documentation and navigation.
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
