Job Title: Electrical Controls Technician – Industrial ManufacturingLocation: Charleston, SC - this is a rotating 12 hour swing shift scheduleOverview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Technician to support preventative and corrective maintenance in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise with electrical motors, controls, and PLC systems, along with a proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues to keep production running safely and efficiently.Key Responsibilities:Perform preventative and corrective maintenance to improve safety, quality, and productivity.Inspect, maintain, and repair low and medium voltage (<600VAC) motor control systems.Troubleshoot and maintain motor drive systems (Siemens and Rockwell families).Use PLC interfaces for diagnostics and equipment troubleshooting.Assist with installation, start-up, and commissioning of new equipment.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.Contribute to safety and operational procedures, including job safety analyses (JSAs).Requirements:Associate degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology, military-equivalent electronics training, or high school diploma with 5+ years of relevant maintenance and repair experience.Minimum of 4 years troubleshooting electrical motors and controls.Experience with PLC diagnostics in an industrial environment.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.Familiarity with NFPA 70E / NEC safety requirements.Ability to work shift schedules and overtime as required.Physically capable of performing tasks in a manufacturing environment (climbing, bending, lifting up to 40 lbs, working in hot conditions).Preferred Qualifications:5 years of manufacturing experience with automation, calibrated instrumentation, and PLC interfaces.Knowledge of PLC logic, industrial automation & control systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.Experience troubleshooting technical equipment and instrumentation.Ability to safely operate forklifts and aerial lifts when needed.
