- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts with various registers and sub-ledgers.
- Posts data and balances accounts and extracts general ledger information. Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
- Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
- Compile and prepare various daily, weekly, or monthly reports as directed.
- Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
- Collects appropriate data and prepares federal, state, and local reports and tax documentation.
- Processing month end closing, inventory, and adjustments.
- Assist in the compilation of cost information to be used in operating budget preparation.
- Prioritize multiple tasks and provide flexibility when requested to work on special projects.
- Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and provide documentation; when necessary
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in a building materials/construction industry preferred.
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Report to the office dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality is required.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
- Ability to summarize data from different sources into a concise format that can be easily expanded and communicated to support initiatives.
- Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, copiers, ten-key adding machine, printers, fax machine, etc.
- Ability to analyze issues independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication as well as the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
