Milling Operator

- Operate milling machines to remove asphalt pavement to specified depth, grade, and slope
- Set up equipment, including drum selection, grade controls, and conveyor adjustments
- Perform pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe working condition
- Coordinate with ground crew and foreman for efficient material removal and loading
- Monitor milling depth, speed, and pattern to meet project specifications
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, traffic, and utilities to prevent incidents
- Assist with machine cleaning and minor repairs as needed
- Complete daily equipment logs and inspection reports
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE
- Assist with other site tasks when equipment is not in operation
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- 2+ years of experience operating milling machines or other heavy equipment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Familiarity with grade control systems and milling machine adjustments
- Ability to read grade stakes, plans, and work orders
- Solid mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the crew
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed
- Must be willing to travel overnight when projects are outside the local area
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including heat and inclement weather
- Exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and moving equipment
- Requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods: Constantly
