Come discover all that Ithaca, New York and Cayuga Health has to offer!Position Overview:The primary functions of an LPN in assisting with assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all patients, regardless of age, during his/her shift. Responsible for meeting the established standards of skilled nursing practice. The Licensed Practical Nurse collaborates with the care team, participates in interdisciplinary care, and advocates for patients. Effectively provides Person Centered care and services.What you'll do:
  • Administers medications and treatments under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Facility Policy.
  • Taking the patient's vital signs such as respiration, temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate and reporting changes in the patient's /residents conditions
  • Advocates for patient
  • Practices ethically and professionally within their scope
  • Maintains clinical competence specific to their care area including organization required education within stated timeframe
  • Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team
  • Documents appropriately and thoroughly in EMR/Point Click Care
  • Keeps other nursing personnel and responsible RN informed regarding changes in condition of patients/ residents and / or other pertinent observations
  • Participates in unit councils and staff meetings
  • Full time day position
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a Nursing Program
  • Experience: Prior patient care and customer service experience preferred
  • Licensure: Current NYS LPN License
  • Certification: As required for care area. May include: CPR/BLS, ACLS, PALS
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialty Certification recommended
Physical Requirements:
  • May require lifting (up to 50 lbs.), may require sitting or standing for long periods. Must be able to physically operate the equipment required for the job.
Travel Requirements:
  • Onsite
