POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for ensuring MEUS systems comply with applicable industry, agency, federal and state codes and standards, supporting METUS, factory and business units as required. Responsible for working with testing agencies, factories and departments to develop, monitor and maintain schedules related to product compliance and testing. Instrumental in ensuring company remains aware of regulatory and code compliance changes.The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Coordinates with the appropriate HVAC departments, MEUS product factories, Industry Associations and Regulatory Agencies to ensure company products are properly certified to appropriate Product Certification Programs for safety, performance, and seismic.
  • Works closely with certification bodies such as Intertek/ETL, UL, CSA, TUV ensuring appropriate US and international product safety requirements are developed, applied and met.
  • Contributes to in-person safety, certification, and performance testing operations at third-party and company facilities as required.
  • Monitors and tracks the development of product safety and performance standards and actively participates in applicable standard revision activities.
  • Ability to analyze and review complex engineering principles related to HVAC system design and performance, and to leverage that knowledge and analysis during committee assignments and open comment periods associated with various HVAC standards.
  • Assists with MEUS laboratory certification and compliance; prepares and maintains laboratory audit documentation and procedures.
  • Take a lead role in our data acceptance program through generation of construction reviews and writing listing constructional data reports (CDR's).
  • Responsible for working with METUS applications and business unit engineers to ensure product code compliance and maintain action plan for resolution of regional certification issues. Assists in the submission of comment letters, building code waivers or other communications with federal, state, and local governments and other organizations as necessary.
  • Presents relevant compliance updates for internal and external training and education.
  • Peforms other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent required.
  • Prefer 4+ years of experience with a safety certification agency as a safety engineer or reviewer.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills. Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Team oriented, self-motivated and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Prepared to travel 30% with some international travel possible.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $85,600 and $117,700/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including commissions based on achieving individual performance and/or sales metrics, incentive compensation and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
