BCNY develops programs to cultivate positive qualities in members and strives to continually deepen and broaden our impact.Job SummaryTutors will work one-on-one and/or in small groups with boys, who require special education instruction and modifications, administer diagnostics on boys with academic needs when appropriate, support other tutors in their instruction techniques, and help create strong programs (such as specific clubs or preparation courses).Job RequirementsFrontline employees are not required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, however, BCNY strongly encourages all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and obtain a booster shot.Responsibilities· Plan, organize, and implement appropriate programs and lesson plans that enhance skill development of participants using a variety of techniques.· Work regularly with the Education Director, Education Coordinator, Social Worker, and/or Psychologist to assess the needs of individual students and adapt lessons to those needs.· Prepare class materials, curriculum, and bulletin displays, and make copies as needed.· Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a group of 10-21 boys (ages 7-9 or 10-12)QualificationsMinimum Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Special Education, and/or other highly relevant field; At least 2 years of experience as a tutor or classroom teacher; Comfort with students.
