
Rotor Assembler - A Shift (M-TH 5AM-3:30PM)

- Perform grit blast, burr and clean, steam clean, staking of balance weights, PH bath, crane and rigging, preparing rotors and gas shafts for shipping, empty/replace chip carts, assist in moving rotors/gas shafts around the rotor shop, along with any other rotor shop support.
- Follow methods, planning, drawings, and detailed verbal and written instructions
- Perform material handling duties as required [fork truck operation required]
- Perform operator preventative maintenance per workstation standards
- May perform box/pack/ship functions including but not limited to preserving, packaging and crating components (includes using power tools); maintaining accurate packing lists and records; and loading shipments on transport vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Perform rotor assembly, alignment, and dynamic balance operation functions
- Perform hand and machine operations required in assembly operations
- Perform assembly operations including but not limited to tenon-peening, heat shrink using ovens and torches, steam clean, and grit blast operations, assemble buckets onto wheels and assemble overspeed trip devices
- Read, interpret, and understand assembly drawings, blueprints, and work instructions and lifting procedures as required to perform rotor assembly operations
- Operate NC machines including CNC milling machines
- Perform deburring operations
- Use and understand material handling equipment to load and unload; transport; locate; and assemble rotor components and non-production material. Equipment will include but is not limited to powered industrial vehicles, overhead cranes and rigging, and manual movement
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment to take and record measurements as required by assembly drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and quality requirements. Examples may include micrometers, calipers, taper gauges, laser equipment, dial indicators, pressure gauges, and special fixtures
- Perform operator preventative maintenance per workstation standards
- Participate in process improvement, cycle reduction, and other activities as required to support the Bangor team and site goals
- Communicate effectively and work well with others
- Maintain accurate written and computer records
- Perform calculations as required for the position
- Pass peening qualification and maintain current status
- Complete monthly/annual online training when assigned
- Perform tasks as assigned on Rotor Assembler training matrix
- Perform Rotor Support tasks as assigned
- High school diploma / GED
- 2-year post-secondary degree in Machine Tool Technology, OR
- Minimum of 1 year of machining (mill, turn, or drill) experience, OR
- Minimum of 1 year of large mechanical assembly experience, OR
- Minimum of 1 year of GE Vernova Bangor production experience and successful completion of the GE Vernova Bangor NC Machinist Pre-requisite curriculum, OR
- Completion of Precision Machining Technology Program or equivalent, OR
- Graduate of any recognized machinist or tool maker course (e.g. tech school, industrial or Armed Forces program
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and wear PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work A shift (5 AM - 3:30 PM; Monday - Thursday).
