- Identify, apprehend and arrest suspects
- Apply appropriate use of force based on law enforcement best practices
- Obtain and serve warrants, subpoenas and other court documents
- Testify in criminal, civil and administrative hearings
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency situations and drills; administer aid, as needed

- Operate law enforcement vehicles and equipment
- Proactively assist community members in identifying and solving community problems
- Manage conflict through negotiation.

- Provide police services for Duke special events including NCAA Division I athletic events and community sponsored events

- High School Diploma or GED; Associate degree, Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Must be at least 20 ½ years of age
- Successful completion of North Carolina's Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET).
- Requires a comprehensive criminal and background check
- In-state, out-of-state, and Military Police lateral transfers are accepted.
