Job DescriptionThe Project Manager is primarily responsible for driving various customer-specific and internal projects to completion. This position will create value by analyzing project results and aiding in the development of business decisions that stem from these projects. The role requires collaboration with Operations group members on monthly reporting of operational and financial metrics, interfacing with customers and business personnel as necessary, and undertaking additional projects as required. Strong knowledge of finance/accounting, business acumen, and excellent communication skills are essential.Responsibilities
- Supervise projects directly and manage project workflow.
- Maintain quality control, meet project schedules, and ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Communicate project status to management and clients.
- Develop project specifications and implement practices to achieve objectives satisfactorily.
- Maintain knowledge of utility company policies and procedures for effective communication with client companies.
- Be knowledgeable in line construction and maintenance, the National Electric Safety Code, and recognize distribution equipment and associated hazards.
- Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive and proprietary information.
- Manage and develop models for reporting operational KPIs and monthly performance reports.
- Lead analysis of information for monthly leadership reports with Finance and Operations group members.
- Support understanding and articulation of business drivers, track, and submit projected revenue, earned value, and operational metrics.
- Participate in meetings with construction supervisors to obtain necessary technical, financial, and operational inputs.
- Assist the Estimating department in preparing new estimates based on historical project data.
- Perform additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- 6+ years of experience in the construction industry.
- Detailed knowledge of project management fundamentals including project life cycle, scope management, time management, and cost management.
- Experience working for a self-performing contractor and a general contractor.
- Financial studies and knowledge of the electricity and electrical construction market.
- Experience in civil construction or high voltage electrical construction, including heavy civil, utilities, and large ground-up commercial projects.
- 4-year college degree (or at least 5+ years of project management experience if a degree is not held).
